Designing something new does not mean starting from scratch.

R+U is a company that is taking an innovative approach to modular architecture. We believe that designing something new does not necessarily mean starting from scratch. To that end, we recycle classroom trailer units and transform them into modern yet functional modular homes.

The trailers we use are Division of the State Architect (DSA) classroom trailers and originally served as temporary classrooms or libraries in schools. Because they are steel framed and structurally sound, we find them ideal for housing. Currently there are thousands of these DSA trailers that are not being put to any use. Rather than allow these viable structures to go unused or eventually end up in landfills, we have given them a second life and have elevated or “upcycled” them.

By repurposing entire structures, we reduce cost, save time, lower energy consumption, and reduce waste—elements that typically burden the construction process for the homeowner. We feel that it is important to produce homes that are affordable and environmentally friendly in addition to being well-designed. We invite you to learn more about our line of homes.
